Shop Spotlight: Monarch Design Loft & GIVEAWAY!

I am over the moon excited to share this blog space today with an extremely talented person.... Kim from Monarch Design Loft.  You may recall that I purchased a lovely owl from her shop a while back and had it signed by new BFF's Sherry & John.  (Check out a picture that Karen  took of Sherry signing the owl here)That owl is proudly displayed in my kitchen, and Taylor knows not to touch and and often points to it and says "Mommy's owl!" And because I love me a good owl, I couldn't let my first niece Baby Peaches not have a few to grace her nursery.

But besides fun colorful owls, Kim has some AMAZING pieces in her shop that I drool over every time I visit.

What inspired or motivated you to open your shop?

Monarch Design Loft was created after I ran out of room in my own home for all the unique gorgeous vintage rejected items I found in need of a makeover.

I grew up going to flea markets and yard sales with my Dad every weekend. Thrifting is in my blood! And when I got older that love of thrifting never faded.

Only issue was, I was constantly coming across unique items I just couldn't pass up but knew I didn't have any room for. I thought sureley someone would love this just as much as I do and so I decided to open my shop and ahrea all my fun finds with all of you!

What are your favorite pieces that you've done?

I really love the recent line of framed painted in Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint and the newest line to be released in April featuring Annie Sloan's chalk paint. The paint is really fun to work with  the colors are amazing & the finish is always stunning!

What advice could you share about starting your own business?

If you're starting a creative handmade business, it's probably because your craft is something you enjoy doing.  Don't forget that. There will be times that all the administrative stuff that goes along with owning a business will be stressful and may have you questioning if you made the right decision.  Take a step back, create something for yourself. Renew that joy in creating and have fun with it.

Biggest success story for Monarch Design Loft?

What started as a hobby creating unique re-purposed home decor for myself has transformed into my dream of owning my own business doing something that I'm passionate about.
I get to stay at home with my two girls while helping contribute to our household financially. I'd call that a success!!

And because I'm a hard hitting journalist..N'Sync or Backstreet Boys?

N'Sync without hesitation. I'm an old school Britney & Justin fan circa 1999 baby!
